Methyl ester (biodiesel)


Global warming, greenhouse gas emissions and the depletion of fossil hydrocarbon sources, we have to find an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution with developing the cultivation of jatropha, which is a source of biodiesel.

The biodiesel are methyl esters derived from vegetable oils that are easily substitute fossil diesel.

The methyl ester (biodiesel) is an environmentally friendly fuel; biodegradable and sustainable (see Table 1).

The density of biodiesel is higher than the diesel it has a cetane and flash point higher than the diesel it offers more security for the transport and storage than traditional diesel.


Biodiesel is manufactured from vegetable oils (jatropha, soy, corn, and rapeseed). The manufacturing process called transesterification, which is a chemical reaction between vegetable oil and alcohol in the presence of a catalyst.


The jatropha oil, due to its physicochemical structure, can be transformed into high quality biodiesel.

 

In Western countries, the use of biodiesel is very widespread, but there is not enough production.


The availability of land, soil conditions and climate of Africa prompts us to popularize the cultivation of jatropha in this part of the world.


For the promotion of jatropha plantations in Africa, BPR Afrique plans to produce enough jatropha oil to process it in biodiesel.


Africa could be as a purveyor of Western countries into biodiesel.


Our goal is to promote large-scale jatropha cultivation and produce high quality biodiesel to be used in Africa and around the world.

Biodiesel has several advantages over conventional diesel:

    • He has more cetane than the classic diesel.
    • It prolongs the engine life.
    • It lubricates the pump by extending its life.
    • It cleans the fuel tank and fuel system.
    • It reduces emissions of Co ² to 80%, thus reducing the greenhouse effect.
    • It is biodegradable, in case of spill; it is degraded after 28 days.
